The Journal of Orthopaedic Experience & Innovation is an Open Access journal. The advantage of open access journals is that they are accessible to a global readership audience that does not have to pay a subscription fee for the journal. For most journals, the editing and process costs are offset by an Article Processing Fee paid by the author or the author’s institution. Here at The Journal of Orthopaedic Experience & Innovation we believe authors should have ready access to have their work published and therefore we do not charge for submission, acceptance, or article processing fees.

Do I inculde the images in the manuscript or attach them as supplemental files?
Include them in the manuscript. Do not add them separately as supplemental files

During the submission process I noticed that there is a section to submit authors and a separate section to submit the manuscript. Should I include the authors and affiliations on the manuscript part of the upload?
No. We have our reviewers do blind reviews and we ask that the manuscript file have no author or institutional identifiers.

What is the timeline to a decision on acceptance, rejection, or revise & resubmit?
In a given calendar month the Editors collect all the submissions. At the end of the month, peer reviewers are assigned. They have 3 weeks to complete the review process. Then a decision is made. Therefore, from sumission to decision is 4-8 weeks depending on which day of the month your article was submitted.

How many reviewers evaluate each article?
A 3 reviewers complete reviews for article decisions.

If my article is judged to need to be revised and resubmitted, how much time do I get to resubmit?
You have 45 days to resubmit. Extensions to this are at the discretion of the Editors.

The Journal of Orthopaedic Experience & Innovation would not live up to its name if we did not respect the experience of the authors and had some innovative ways to present articles. First let’s get a couple of housekeeping issues out of the way and then discuss the various types of articles and suggested formatting. • All submissions are electronic through our platform. • Go to joei.pub • Click on the navigation tab “For Authors” • You will see a large blue button “Submit a Manuscript”

• Click on this button • If this is your first time that you are submitting a manuscript, we ask that you create an account. You will see the following screen. Click on the X in the top right.

• You will now see the following screen. If this is not the first time you submitted a manuscript, then you already have a login with your email and password that you created.
