The Journal of Orthopaedic Experience & Innovation is an Open Access journal. The advantage of open access journals is that they are accessible to a global readership audience that does not have to pay a subscription fee for the journal. For most journals, the editing and process costs are offset by an Article Processing Fee paid by the author or the author’s institution. Here at The Journal of Orthopaedic Experience & Innovation we believe authors should have ready access to have their work published and therefore we do not charge for submission, acceptance, or article processing fees.

Instructions for Authors:
1. All articles must be submitted in English
2. The files that we accept at MS Word .docx for documents, Please do not submit any PDFs
3. All images and figures are to be incorporated into the MS Word document. Do not send separate files for these.
4. Legends for all figures and tables are to be under these images and in the MS Word Document
5. Do not number the lines
6. Do not include a cover letter or conflicts of interest information
7. If abbreviations are used, please write out the full name followed by the abbreviation in parentheses the first time it appears in the text.
8. If your article has human subjects and/or an institutional review board (IRB) is needed for another reason, please incorporate the appropriate IRB language into the manuscript. o Editorial
 Of all the forms of articles, this one is the one with the freest format. If this article is written it is either that you were invited to write about your experience, usually multi-year, with something or you want to write about your experience with a new innovation. This is your chance to truly say it how you want to as if someone asked you the question, “Tell me about your experience with this?”
 This should be written in the format:
 Unstructured Abstract
 Unstructured Format or structured in format to best convey information
 Abstract Length: 10-400 words

o Product Review
 Reviews of new technology and products available for use in orthopaedic surgery.

Instructions for Authors

The Journal of Orthopaedic Experience & Innovation would not live up to its name if we did not respect the experience of the authors and had some innovative ways to present articles. First let’s get a couple of housekeeping issues out of the way and then discuss the various types of articles and suggested formatting. • All submissions are electronic through our platform. • Go to joei.pub • Click on the navigation tab “For Authors” • You will see a large blue button “Submit a Manuscript”

• Click on this button • If this is your first time that you are submitting a manuscript, we ask that you create an account. You will see the following screen. Click on the X in the top right.

• You will now see the following screen. If this is not the first time you submitted a manuscript, then you already have a login with your email and password that you created. If this is your first time on the platform, create an account by clicking on the button “I need to sign up.” • If you are signing up, after you click the button you will be directed to the following page.

• Make sure you fill out the required fields. • Once you do this and sign in you will be directed to the manuscript submission page:

• The steps are fairly intuitive. • IMPORTANT NOTE: You can either embed images within your manuscript or add them in the supporting files section. WE PREFER YOU ADD THEM IN THE SUPPORTING FILES SECTION. They, of course, will be labeled the same way in the manuscript and the filename. Any media file can be uploaded from images to video files. • In the end, you will submit the manuscript and the rest of the process, including all communications will be done electronically with notifications to your email with direct links to the platform to handle any editorial requests.

Additionally, if accepted, it will not be published elsewhere in the same form, in English or in any other language, including electronically without the written consent of the Journal of Orthopaedic Experience & Innovation. o Peer Review Process  The Journal of Orthopaedic Experience & Innovation follows the ICMJE Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals (https://www.icmje.org/icmje-recommendations.pdf) and the Principles of Transparency and the Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing (https://oaspa.org/information-resources/principles-of-transparency-and-best-practice-in-scholarly-publishing/).  All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer-review process. All manuscripts are reviewed by a minimum of 2 reviewers independently. Reviewers and editors are asked to excuse themselves from reviewing manuscripts that they have a conflict of interest, and another reviewer/editor is assigned in their place. After receiving the reviews, the editor(s)-in-chief has full authority to accept, reject, or ask for revisions of all submitted manuscripts. The corresponding author is provided with feedback from the reviewers. If a revised version of a manuscript is submitted, the editor(s)-in-chief will decide if the manuscript requires additional reviews or make a final decision about publication of the manuscript. o Publishing Schedule  The Journal of Orthopaedic Experience & Innovation strives to keep a continuous publication schedule so that articles are published online as soon as they are ready. This results in Journal of Orthopaedic Experience & Innovation publishing on average 4-8 articles per month.
